September 11, 2001....13 years later, some reminders. Although we should adhere to the following everyday I know that people will be paying attention especially on days like today. Please keep in mind the following: Almost 3000 people lost their lives that day. We should keep them in our thoughts not only on days like today but everyday. But let us not forget the unsung victims of this tragedy: The victims of xenophobia, Islamophobia, and all forms of discrimination/hate not started by but furthered by the events of September 11, 2001. Remember people like Balbir Singh Sodhi, a 49 year old Sikh, shot and killed outside of his gas station in Mesa, Arizona on September 15, 2001. When asked why he did it the killer said Im a patriot and an American. Im American. A damn American! Also keep in mind not only the physical but the inner turmoil these victims face, that which goes unreported in the media. Remember and never forget that nearly 3000 people lost their lives that day. The people on the planes and in the towers were travelers, businessmen and businesswomen, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, they were human beings. Quite honestly Im sorry that I even have to mention that, the point is THEY WERE HUMAN BEINGS. Remember and never forget the outrage and anger that boiled in your blood and deep in your soul when you heard on the news that these innocent people lost their lives. Let us also remember today and everyday the billions upon billions of civilians who have lost their lives in war. Too often in America we justify the mass killing of civilians and excuse it by simply saying well it was war. War is no excuse for the mass killing of civilians. But what about the Firing Bombing of Tokyo by US Forces during the Second World War? WAR IS NO EXCUSE. But come one we had to nuke Japan during WWII! WAR IS NO EXCUSE. How about the Fire Bombing of Dresden by US & British forces? Or dropping Agent Orange in Vietnam. Come on we had to win the war! WAR IS NO EXCUSE. Innocent people lost their lives during those events, war is no excuse. Treat these instances with equal outrage and anger. LET US REMEMBER AND NEVER FORGET THE ALL THE VICTIMS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. LET US REMEMBER AND NEVER FORGET THE VICTIMS OF WAR AND HATE. youtube/watch?v=6dCinBk1tfc
