September 3rd is now the recognised date in UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as Merchant Navy Day , a time to reflect on the tens of thousands of officers and crew along with many innocent passengers young and old who lost their lives during the conflicts at sea. A higher percentage than any of the other services, and as many were sitting targets for the U boat packs there was little chance to get away nor fight back. Its quite appropriate that I have been invited to talk on Beach FM (nz frequency 106.3) tomorrow morning (Sept 3rd) around 10.15am NZ time . The talk with well known broadcaster Nigel Hopkins is to basically discuss my work and where people can see the paintings. the station can apparently be accessed from overseas..
