Shakib , Bangladesh , WE Shakib incident once again has given us the opportunity to introspect on us - Bangladeshis . One needs to look back at few core issues - which may be at the root of many frustrations we face everyday Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated poor nation. Around 964 people live every KM We are the poorest nation with so many people living within such a small place. In comparison in India 368 people live in one KM. Implication of Population density and poverty means - small number of uneducated/less educated people are fighting for resources, to feed their mouth. No one has time for excellence - everyone is fighting for survival. Honesty, values, integrity becomes only words to adorn books A political party by design has to rely on these unscrupulous individuals to come to power, and in most cases become hostage to them. And one day Medicares begin to run the nation. Pulling others down ( and not hard work and better performance) becomes an essential tactic for ones success. In such an environment it becomes difficult for someone to drive a different agenda. We all know - how the honest govt officials suffer. They rarely get the critical posts. The corrupt has so far won the big battles( hope its going to change soon) Democracy for a nation like this is a curse - we are a living example of that Lets get back to Shakib incident Very few people are aware of exactly what happened. We are trying to assume what could happen based on our experience of similar incidence in Bangladesh. It is clear that Shakib has some sort of indiscipline streak within him and has shown that number of times. Arrogance and greatness do not go hand in hand. And some form of humility is always advised to harness the greatness quotient. There is absolutely no doubt that Shakib is the greatest sporting hero of Bangladesh. And whether he wants it or not he becomes a role model , and his every action will be dissected, analyzed and many times misinterpreted. One might say this is unfair but it comes with the territory, and he has to live up to it. But on the field I have very rarely seen him giving anything less than 100%. even his less than 100 is so much better than our next best players 100. So all of us should think twice before questioning his motive. I have always been a strong critic of talk shows - which as the name says is all Talk and slowly we begin to focus more on talks and not Action. We love to dissect and crucify anyone except the self. Who cares what he has said - of not playing for the country - so far he has proven again and again for the country giving his best on the field. I am sure there are enough issues with Shakib to be angry which deserves action. But what and how it is taken care is the bigger question He has been playing for sometime - and our board has completely failed to manage a talent like him - different talent requires different approach. And he is by far the most talented sportsperson we have. Their job is to bring out the best out of him , providing him all support yet ensuring that he stays within boundary While Shakib has to be answerable for on and off the field actions, the board also has to take the responsibility of how they are handling the players , why a team which was blossoming suddenly appears so rubbish. I am angry and frustrated not just what is happening to Shakib but to our Cricket - because we just love our cricket - our players - our team As management its your responsibility to manage the team and bring out the best - And right now you are failing Miserably
