Sharing Nikhil Kapurs Status (could not share it from his page for some reason) Very happy to share with you all that i have successfully completed the Ironman Triathlon Zurich race in 14hrs 55mins. As part of this triathlon we had to swim 3.9K, cycle 180K & finish it off with a run of 42K. The race started at 7am & we had to complete it before 11pm-- 16 hours!! I had my 5 year young son, Kiyan, give me company as he raced the Iron Kids race where he swam 50 Mts & ran 300 mts. They were by themselves in the swim to run transition!! Regretably i missed his event since i was on the bike course then. The swim was conducted in Lake Zurich & we were allowed wet suits since the temp was around 22 degrees. The bike course was very scenic & went through the country side. To add to the challenge, we had 3 hill climbs - the beast (it did feel beastly on the 2nd lap), the egg (long but manageable gradient) & the heart break hill (gradient of 10, around 1.5-2K climb but both the times it seemed so easy with the support of the swiss people who gave you only around 1-1.5 mts to cycle...the atmosphere here was bloody brilliant (in the british style)!!) The run went around the lake front & the people were out in full attendance to cheer all the athletes! One of the most inspiring bits of the race was the banner held up by a girl mentioning i dont do the ironman triathlons, i do the ironman-- surely lot of people ran faster to the finish line reading that. I had very good company & support from Akash Korgaonkar who also successfully completed this challenging event. Thanks to my family especially my wifey, Sharmilee Agarwal who has supported me whole heartedly during my 1 year of training especially the last few days leading upto the event. What next?? Lots of rest
