Sheriff asks for community involvement in finding cure for Leukemia and Lymphoma – Scoops and Walks for Cure Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is once again proud to announce that the Sheriff’s Department and the Forest Drive Baskin-Robbins are teaming up to host the Annual “Baskin Robbins Cones for a Cure” events supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Sheriff Leon Lott believes that solutions are best found when the community comes together to support one another and that is what these (2) events are all about; supporting the discovery of a cure. Sheriff Leon Lott states there will be (2) separate events that give citizens the opportunity to make a difference. The Sheriff added that both of the events are in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society which was established in 1949 and has been working hard since towards finding a cure for blood cancer while also providing education and support for patients. Sheriff Leon Lott is passionate about helping those who truly need it and feels confident this cause is an important way to help those affected by these cancers. • Baskin Robbins Cones for a Cure 5K Race will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2014 with the rally point at the Baskin Robbins parking lot located at 4711 Forest Drive in Columbia. The race start location is a quick walk away at the corner of Trenholm Rd. and Country Club Dr. and will end at Forest Lake Place. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit and Deputies will kick off the race at 7:30 AM so come out and meet and run/walk with deputies as you fight a worthy cause. Sheriff Leon Lott and Baskin-Robbins owner Spears Westbrook are hosting these events in an effort to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. • Baskin Robbins Cones for a Cure Family Fun Day will be held on Thursday May 15, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the parking lot of Baskin Robbins located at 4711 Forest Drive in Columbia. Sheriff Leon Lott and Baskin-Robbins owner Spears Westbrook are hosting these events in an effort to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Baskin Robbins Cones for a Cure Night will feature numerous FREE activities for kids, including: • 9 Foot Deputy • DARE Truck • Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) • K-9 Demonstration • Kids ID Print • Mounted Patrol • Car Seat Safety Checks • Bike Rodeo (Midlands SafeKids) • Seat Belt Crash “intimidator” • DUI Goggles Sheriff Leon Lott, Spears Westbrook, and a number of local celebrities, are encouraging the community to come out on “Baskin Robbins Cones for a Cure” to enjoy scrumptious ice cream cones, banana splits, milkshakes, and other desserts. Sheriff Leon Lott, along with deputies, and celebrities will be behind the ice cream counter personally serving up everyone’s favorite flavors. Sheriff Leon Lott added that “Baskin Robbins Cones for a Cure 5K Race and Family Fun Day” are two unique opportunities for families to get out and have fun together while also helping support a great cause.
