Sherry is not just for your grandmother! As part of our celebration of everything Spanish this forth coming Wednesday, we would like to tell you a little more about our selection of delicious Spanish sherry! We feature a selection of lovely sherries to complement our Tapas night. PX Sherry. An intensely sweet, dark, dessert sherry. It is made by drying the grapes under the hot sun, concentrating the sweetness, which are then used to create a thick, black liquid with a strong taste of raisins and molasses that is fortified. Try this sherry in a large glass over ice! Amontillado Sherry. Amontillado is a variety of sherry wine characterised by being darker than fino but lighter than oloroso. It is named for the Montilla region of Spain, where the style originated in the 18th century. Fino Sherry. Refined in Spanish is the driest and palest of the traditional varieties of sherry fortified wines. They are drunk comparatively young, and unlike the sweeter varieties should be drunk soon after the bottle is opened as exposure to air can cause them to lose their flavour within hours. Try this over ice on a hot day as delicious long cooling drink. We serve our sherries by the half bottle and in 100ml measures. At the very least you can treat grandma, however we strongly believe it is a drink worth rediscovering!
