Should ‘repentance’ be a part of the mature Christian’s - TopicsExpress

Should ‘repentance’ be a part of the mature Christian’s life? If our sins are forgiven, covered, and forgotten, what is the point of repentance? If we are really growing into the “fullness, and stature, and measure of Christ,” we must take the focus off ourselves and learn from the men of the Word. We are part of the Body of Christ that has specific responsibilities that must be pressed into. You may disagree, but there are commands for repentance for the members of the Body, not for personal salvation, but to bring the body into the fullness of Jesus, right here on this earth. There are envyings, strife, and divisions in the Body that allow gifts to be stolen from us. Then, we cannot ignore the natural world we live in, as we are commanded to seek first the Kingdom of God. Our eternal life may not be affected by where we live, but our family will certainly feel the suffering of a backslidden nation. Our culture will affect us. My sins are covered, but I must like Daniel pray in real repentance for my nation, if i desire a real healing for my nation. Daniel didn’t pray, “forgive them Lord, they have sinned.” He prayed, “We have sinned.” He took on Himself the responsibility for the sin of the nation of Judah, and prayed until he had the assurance of the 70 years end to their captivity, prophesied by Jeremiah. He became a true intercessor. There are times we feel the burden to pray, and we spend it praying for ourselves again, or we feel the need for repentance and we repent of something forgiven long ago. “You have not……...because you ask amiss.” We must consider that as we grow, we grow into the responsibility of intercession for the Body of Christ to come into unity, or for the sins of the nation. We are responsible as believers for the spiritual state of the nation, the culture. “If my people, which are called by my name……” God never says He is waiting on the world to repent to heal the nation, but His people, must repent, since we are the salt. The seasoning and preservative of the world around us. God is never the problem. His Word is never the problem. He remains the same. Therefore, we can determine to enter into the ministry of Jesus. Grant it Lord.
