Shögun Kickboxing is an established Association, with a structured Syllabus, Timetable & Grading system. Gradings are held every 4 months, to allow for the testing of Students, ready to progress. Gradings are NOT compulsory, and ARE strictly at the Chief Instructors discretion. Some Students will be ready and some wont. Based around the Syllabus content and regular attendance, most SHOULD be ready, some MAY need extra time, to complete their preparation. Higher Grades definitely need MORE time to prepare, as they have more elements to learn. Occasionally, some Student/s might put in extra time & work, by training in more than one Club. These Students are unlikely to be held back, as their knowledge, ability & attitude to training are exemplary. Belts & Grades are NOT automatic passes, so if a Student is not ready, we pull them out on the Saturday Assessment Course and return their Grading Fee (in full), to them. (Most of you, are unaware of this, as it is done Privately). If a Student under-performs on the day of the Grading, they simply F A I L ........ Students unable to make the pre-arranged Grading date, have the option of a Private Grading. We do NOT encourage it, as the cost is quite prohibitive, requiring extra Hall Hire, Travel, Grading Panel time and often a re-arrangement of previous schedules. In the past, we HAVE Graded a small number of Students, who were unable to attend the Public Grading, as a result of illness or injury........ on a different day! However........ certain individuals, are now using that Kindness against us. Requesting to be Graded separately, (without the cost of a Private Grading), to accommodate their pre-arranged Holidays........ Sorry........ But it is just NOT going to happen! Unfortunately, as a result of this, we now have to remove ANY Grey area. For ALL future reference........ ANYONE unable to attend a Pre-arranged Public Grading (for whatever reason), have the following choices; 1. Private Grading (Shögun HQ - Swansea) 2. Defer to the NEXT Public Grading. My sincere apologies to those genuine people, adversely affected by this........ Chief Instructor: Paul Scott (6th Dan).
