Since Secretary of State, John Kerry, delivered a gift of US funds - TopicsExpress

Since Secretary of State, John Kerry, delivered a gift of US funds ($575 m) and military hardware (Apache Helicopter Gunships) to the newly elected President El Sisi of Egypt during a pitstop in Cairo in June, on his way to Iraq to respond to the threat from of ISIL, why shouldnt France also have good bilateral relations with the Egypts new ruler and disregard the brutal repression, grave human rights abuses, abuses of the courts and justice system, imprisonment of journalists, and other offences, initiated by and for Field Marshall El Sisi from July 3, 2013, and continued uninterrupted and in total impugnity by the now President El Sisi. If the US Administration can have one set of standards for human rights, justice, democracy, and humanity, which it readily ignores whenever it wants, why shouldnt the French and other European leaders likewise turn a blind eye as Egypt has restored absolute power of the military as it was under Dictator Hosni Mubarak for 30 years, and, in 12 months, has silenced or eliminated or imprisoned all opposition, protests, all members of the Muslim Brotherhood, and journalists? There is no reason for Dictator El Sisi to stop such widespread abuses when the West, the US, the UN, the EU, and the Saudis give him the nod and the wink, the wag of the finger and a few words of caution, or shipments of cash and military goods, or look the other way so as not the see the daily abuses.
