Since you all post pictures of your hounds (its awesome, Im living vicariously through each and every one of you until I can adopt) I wanted to post the bloodhound/coonhound mix that made me realize Im a hound girl. His name is Booker, and he was a giant pain in the ass. Centre County PAWS has a program called Pet Partners where a volunteer works with a specific dog on basic commands, socialization, leash walking, etc., and I got stuck with him. He was too strong for me and even male volunteers, loved to play tug of war with the leash, and he was obnoxious with his puppy bites (I had bite marks everywhere, and he would pull my pony tail). His family surrendered him because they couldnt have him around their 5 year old, but it was clear they didnt try that hard to discipline him. He was SO rambunctious and annoying but he somehow blossomed into this smart, stubborn, goofy, mushy wonderful loving goodness that just melted my heart. Hes now with the best human and dog family ever. Hes still stubborn and way too smart for his own good but its part of his charm. I cried when he got adopted, I didnt even realize how much Id miss him. But he was my baby (still partly is - his family keeps in touch). His coat is a much darker red now and he looks more relaxed, less of that furrowed worried brow. :)
