Singing is part of religious service; it is worship just like prayer. We live in a world of religious confusion. Worship has become more about the individual than about God. People place feeling above the word of God. Our worship service must bring glory & honor to God, & not to entertain ourselves. When we have choirs to sing to us & concerts to entertain us, we are not worshipping God; but we have become the spectators who are being entertained. Worship is not a spectator event. We dare not become spectators, because in worship it is God who is the spectator. "Gorgeous apparel, fine singing, & instrumental music in the church are the order of the services. In the sight of God these things are like the branches of the unfruitful fig tree which bore nothing but pretentious leaves. Christ looks for fruit, not leaves, principles of goodness, sympathy & love. These are the principles of heaven, & when they are revealed in the lives of human beings, we may know that Christ is formed within, the hope of glory.
