Six quakes rattle NZ: A flurry of six earthquakes have struck the country overnight, with the strongest, a magnitude 4.9, hitting off Seddon. The 4.9 magnitude quake, which struck just before 1am, was centered 25 km south-east of Seddon at a depth of 22km. It was followed by several smaller aftershocks, the biggest of which was a magnitude 4.5 quake 30 km east of Seddon at 6.38 am. GeoNet had reported a magnitude 4.5 quake 15 km northwest of Christchurch at 4.12 am, but this has since been removed. -Stuff
