Smokey Update: three months ago my 17 year old cat Smokey had what the vet thinks was a blood clot hit her spine. It left her almost completely paralyzed but the vet felt that should could get most if not all of her mobility back given time. She has an enlarged heart and since then has been on meds for high blood pressure, blood flow and aspirin to prevent more clots from forming. We now take things one day at a time and every day i still have with her is a gift, but I am happy to report that as of now she is up and around, enjoying life, and aside from a small limp with her back right paw (which we think is arthritis and shes on inflammation meds for that too) I think her quality of life is excellent. At her age you never know what can change but for now its so far so good. Im very thankful for each day we have with her, and my kids and i give her lots of extra love and attention. When I took her to the vet 3 months ago i really thought i was losing her, and here we are 3 months later, she eats good, she jumps up to a low sitting chair with no problem and she even explores around the house at times :) The picture on the red towel is how she looked when i first brought her home from the vet and she couldnt even sit up, the rest are what she looks like now.
