Snake aversion training: have a look at Blues body language. Lip - TopicsExpress

Snake aversion training: have a look at Blues body language. Lip licking, tail down, and dancing on the spot. Hes not confident about the snake approaching. When his handler screams, hes very quick to back off! With a bit more practice, he will avoid them altogether. For this kind of training, I use a rubber snake on a long line, or road kill if I can find a recently deceased snake. Obviously, the more it smells like a snake, the more effective it will be on dogs who rely on their nose. But please, avoiding snakes is still the best option for staying safe, so no scooping up snakes unless you are very sure theyre already dead!
