So 1hour into the flight at 12am, the flight attendant makes a plea over the intercom, if there is a health care professional on board please put your light on now...... You can imagine how the rest if the flight went for me!!!! A 50-year-old Hispanic female becoming increasingly lethargic diaphoretic,color ashen, No English... Had her glucometer with several prescription bottles in this lil case..... Figured out through the Steward the answers to my MANY questions... Put oxygen on her, BP 80/40, p 100 R 14 blood sugar 125... Havent eaten since before noon, no dinero gave herself 30 Units of Insulin at 2pm..... Took her lisinipril at 4pm, she started reaching for another tablet, because of course since I was taking her BP that must mean she believed she was hypertensive. I STOPPED her from I ingesting it, and started giving her apple juice, 1/2 muffin , water..... More monitoring .....after an hour her BP 118/74 color pink, focused and communicating... Another 2 hours...we land in Ft Lauderdale , paramedic board the plane and escort patient off ( walking on her own accord) .. Really????? What happened to Red Eye flights full of booze and laughter.... Maybe next time...
