Now theres apparently a big backlash from some quarters about this, and an equally big backlash against that backlash saying how racist that backlash is. Heres my question. Has anyone really considered that it might be a bad idea to bring Annie and updating together, overall? I mean, the second most crucial character is a millionaire named Warbucks. Unironically. Who has made a fantastic fortune that puts him squarely in the 1% ... by profiting off war. *And hes one of the good guys.* Maybe theyre changing all that in the remake, I dont know, but that just brings back the original question: why go to all this trouble to update a musical that was already a period piece when it was new??
