So I did it again. At karaoke, whenever theres a group of hard core old-school rap fans in the room - you know the guys who nail gangstas paradise, despite being pretty drunk, or wail out some sick R&B - its easy to be intimidated and not want to rap in front of them, and maybe get jeered off the mic (though theyre actually usually pretty nice). I have a song i always do when these types of guys are in da house (keep in mind that when I, a middle aged average white chick gets up on stage, most expect country and ballads, except anyone who knows me - hee hee). I get up and belt out Jump by Kriss Kross - and these guys go wild! (Especially since I nail it.) Last night, one dude was up singing with me, a couple of others were dancing - it was so much fun. And everyone was popping over to tell me how awesome I am afterwards. If you dont remember Kriss Kross or Jump - they were the two preteen boys who rapped with their pants on backwards in the early 90s.
