So I had a colonoscopy Monday. The tumor in my colon is blocking all but two millimeters of the colon and the physician couldnt get his scope past the tumor at all. I hadnt posted yet because I had a decision to make. The oncologist wanted me to go ahead and have a colostomy, but that is a huge, permanent, quality of life issue. For better or worse, I have made a decision to put it off unless the blockage becomes an emergency. Instead, I am going to start chemo next week in the hopes that it will quickly shrink the tumor and make more room in my colon. Its a risk, because I could be putting myself in an emergency situation if the colon becomes completely blocked and ruptures. And chemo doesnt work on everyone. I can only pray I have made the right decision. In the meantime, per doctors orders, I am eating a very low fiber diet.... the opposite of what I have been doing. I am still going to meet with the surgeon next week so that if a colostomy becomes necessary, he is already familiar with my case. The oncologist doesnt think my colon will make it even that long but I have faith that it will. Please keep me (and my colon, lol) in your prayers!
