So, I have a funny Robin Williams story to share: Back in the early 90s. Cross country skiing early in the morning @ Squaw Valley. We (Sølvi Marie Fjeldstad and myself) were doing a long loop through the valley and there is a lone skier ahead in the distance. As we caught and passed him, Solvi passed first and didnt notice, I see it is Robin Williams. I say good morning, he replies gorgeous. Skiing on, I slowly catch Solvi and tell her that is Robin Williams skiing behind us. So, nearing the end of the loop, we stop at the top of a small hill that rolls down to Papoose. It was a powder day. Robin Williams catches up. He asks Are you gonna go for it? (The off piste run through the powder on X-country skis...no metal edges) Solvi says yep and drops in and makes it look easy...safely on the bottom looking back up to Robin Williams and me. I go next and struggle, but make it. Up next was Robin Williams, who goes for it, gaining speed right at us. He then proceeds to face-plant in powder right at our feet. He picks himself up, with a face full of powder and laughs. After composing himself, with a numb face he says maybe that wasnt such a good idea...better than coffee though. We all had a good laugh and finished the loop together. Thanks for sharing your humor and love of life Robin Williams...you are remembered for bringing love & laughter to our world!
