So I have to share an amazing story... When I have off work on Friday, and its early enough, I go to my favorite restaurant for breakfast, Katies kitchen. I was there last Friday and a family came in and sat in the table adjacent to me. I think it was a grandfather and grandmother and their grandchildren. The man was very, very grumpy. He muttered and complained under his breath about everything, sometimes not so quietly. When an elderly woman came in with a walker and oxygen tank, he was required to scoot his chair in about 2 inches so she could pass. He did so begrudgingly, muttering and scowling the whole time. I decided that I would pay for grumpy mans check, hoping but it might put a smile on his grumpy face. I left and carried on with my day. So today, I have off, & I had time to go for breakfast. Upon entering the restaurant, the two servers that are usually there come over to my table very excited. They recount the events of last Friday like this... Grumpy man was so touched that someone paid for his familys meal that he chose a table and he paid for theirs. That table in turn was touched, and did the same. This went on for 11 tables. The last table that had their meal paid for ended up being the last table in the restaurant in between the breakfast and lunch rush. They didnt have anyone to pay a check for and theirs was already covered. They were here on vacation from New York. They came in the following morning on Saturday, and paid it forward Saturday morning. That continued on for 7 more tables on Saturday. When I heard the story this morning I sat quietly at my table with tears in my eyes never expecting that my small gesture would have such an impact. It just goes to show that you never know the effect that one simple act of kindness might have and how far it might travel. Ruthie, my server today would not let me pay for my meal so I paid it forward again, because you just never know♡
