So I have to share this… As many of you know, growing up I was a competitive swimmer, butterfly and freestyle were my strokes. At our leadership conference with Stella & Dot this past weekend, we had to share one thing that many people dont know about us… Well mine was that I was voted most likely to be in the Olympics by my fellow senior classmates in high school. Unbeknownst to them, I was NO WHERE near that. BUT the truth of it all is that they viewed me as someone that was that inspirational. To this day, I have always laughed about it. After some help from a friend, I have now come to realize that this was a true honor. My classmates looked up to me as a leader in our school as captain of our swim team. I spent a lot of today reflecting on that fact, I have always been a leader and had a desire to teach and support others in their efforts. I hope one day that I can leave a mark, the way that my coach, Jeff Cooper (Lyn Schermer Cooper), did with me. I dont think he will ever really understand how he changed my life. The effort he put into me as a swimmer, went above and beyond. He never gave up on me, even when I gave up on myself!!! Did I go on to the Olympics…No! Did I grow up a better teacher, coach, mom, wife, and person…. HELL YES! I can never thank him for what he did for me, but I hope I can do the same for others.
