So I was discussing street theatre festival budgets the other day, - TopicsExpress

So I was discussing street theatre festival budgets the other day, triggered by news that the Christchurch buskers festivals budget had blown out to 2.1 million annually. Ive done a preliminary budget myself for here in Kailua kona and admitted I got a little intimidated, typing away in my beautiful $675 a month bungalow, with figures that quickly exceeded half a million. As an exercise, bearing in mind street performers main criteria, given they can earn money anywhere, is the quality of the hang, I tried to approach it in a different way. Hows this for an idea. You get picked up at the airport. In a surprisingly short time [10-15 minutes] you are deposited here. best-big-island-hawaii/pine-trees-beach.html https://google/search?q=pine+trees+camping+kailua+kona&client=firefox-a&hs=abj&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=fuFFU6DhEaeqyAGEsICQDg&ved=0CFAQsAQ&biw=1276&bih=670 I will have arranged a ten day camping permit per individual, the festival event will be a 3 day affair with additional school shows and workshops that Ill work out with various individuals beforehand. Youll be provided with tents, inflatable mattresses, barbecues, chilly bins/coolers,masses of assorted food and drinks and snorkles/goggles/flippers/surfboards and gallons of sunscreen. There will also be a resident local or two there to instruct and help out. You get flown in, stranded on a beach only accessable by 4 wheel drive and driven in 20 mins drive to do two shows a day over 3 days with some extra shows here and there that I individually organise. eg, if I get sponsorship from a luxury resort I might offer them a show. The fees will be small and the hats will be initially small too, as it always is with a fest starting out.but Ill time it at the cusp of the traditional seasons when theres usually nothing much on. You could bring your families and write it off as a business trip, or come alone and party. I could produce it as an annual event for a comparatively small budget and it would certainly have its own flavor in the street fest mix. Thoughts?
