So Im just beaming with pride over what we witnessed a couple of hours ago. 250 of Long Islands top students were chosen to take part in this exam to be one of 20 accepted into this Institute of Talented and Gifted program at SUNY Old Westbury. Beyond proud just at Nick being picked to be there! Think the math / problem solving version of The Hunger Games. After they sequestered all the kids away to another building they asked us parents to stay where we were for at least a half hour because, as we were told, some kids crack after just the first couple of questions in the 90 minute test and need to be taken home. They werent kidding. We sat by and watched as child after child walked back in, eyes red and puffy, looking for their parent to leave. But 90 minutes later, there was Nick smiling ear to ear walking through that door after completing the whole exam. I dont care if he gets picked or not. His words to me were all I need. I just took my FIRST test at a University...I had GOOSEBUMPS!!! No tears, just goosebumps. God we love that kid.
