So Ive given the new leak of the new Devin Townsend double album a few (Like, 5 complete listens each) listens, and Ive come to a conclusion that....Im very eh on the direction of it. On one hand, I love the direction that songs like Warrior, Fallout, Rejoice, and Ziltoid Goes Home, take. But Im also disliking the more pop oriented feel and the general feel of the other songs. They all...bleed into one another. Its not like on the original Ziltoid where each song stood out and had its own catchy riff. So, Id probably say 8/10 for Sky Blue because I can definitely hear oldschool Devin Townsend in there, amongst the new poppy stuff on some tracks, but only a 6/10 for Dark Matters, where his new poppy attitude shines out. I might change my mind when I hear the released album, which is apparently a different mix to the one Im listening to right now. Fallout and Rejoice are by far the best songs on the album, though.
