So LEO Weekly relies almost exclusively on freelancer writers now. - TopicsExpress

So LEO Weekly relies almost exclusively on freelancer writers now. With this in mind, Ive been marinating on an idea -a complete issue of the mag- to pitch to the owner/editors. Working title is the All Black Everything Issue and would run in February for Black History Month. All the articles would be about black/urban issues, from politics to sports to arts&entertainment to other human interest stories that would normally run in a news weekly. There could even be a special push made for advertising from the citys black owned small business that normally wouldnt/couldnt run in LEO. This issue would be commemorative and could be made available at west and south end locations where it is not usually found. With this idea in mind, it would take a connection with other potential/aspiring/established writers, photographers, columnists, etc with an interest or expertise in Louisvilles black culture, as well as a team of professionals would could help advise and edit. Even if the LEO proved not to be the appropriate venue, this could be an awesome homegrown project. Thoughts? Is this a good idea or nah? Anybody interested in thinking more about this idea?
