So NBC hired a psych evaluator to look into David Gregory, host of the networks formerly respected Meet the Press information program? MTP has plummeted from Number 1 in the ratings to a poor Number 3, and falling, since Mr. Gregory took over. The Peacock suspects Gregory is the problem. They probably should have hired someone with real journalism credentials to do the evaluation. They might have discovered that the closed-minded, ultra-liberal, conservative-hating buffoon to whom they entrusted the MTP franchise has chased viewers away in droves. A softball-throwing suck-up to liberals, Mr. Gregory has consistently been a rude, ill-informed, obnoxious embarrassment in his treatment of conservative guests. What NBC seems to have forgotten, not known, or, more likely, not cared about, is that when MTP with Tim Russert ruled the Sunday morning airwaves, folks of all political stripes tuned in. Now, because of David Gregorys attitude and incompetence, even open-minded liberals have gone elsewhere. The result - the well-deserved demise of a once-proud Sunday institution.
