So a guy hit my car with his car last week on the way to work, and his insurance company accepted full responsibility on his behalf (which is accurate). I am 100% NOT at fault. Now, Im trying to work with my insurance company to figure out the best way to get the (minor) damages taken care of, and theyre giving me options of who/where to get it repaired, how much repair to do, whether to submit to them for coverage and having them bill the other company VS me working directly with the other guys insurance, etc. Being the annoying little brat that I am, Im trying to understand the full impact of my decisions PRIOR to making them. Pesky little inconsequential factors like HOW WILL THIS OR THAT OPTION IMPACT MY PREMIUMS? Except no one can tell me. First off, the claims agents are a completely separate entity from the policy agents, and both claim absolutely NO knowledge of how the other side works, so a claims agent asks how id like to move forward, but cant explain the potential repercussions of one decision over another. So I transfer to a policy agent and ask a few more questions about how my rates would be affected depending on different courses of action, and they couldnt really tell me either. I swear to god you could hear her casually shrugging with ignorance. All I kept hearing was there are many factors that contribute to your overall rate, and all I kept saying was yes but how might THIS ONE FACTOR contribute? and all I kept getting back was there are many factors that impact your overall rate, but I dont know HOW, or even WHAT any of those factors really are.
