So a man holds innocent people hostage in a cafe in Sydney? The media are quick to create use the word Islamist in their headlines. Please let me educate you... The word Islamist does not exist. The word Muslim however, does. The Arabic word Islam means Peace. In the Arabic language, to do something we add the word Mu in front of it. To BE a follower of Islam, you are a Mu-Islam, and grammatically in Arabic it becomes Muslim. You are a doer, you make peace. You are a part of a huge family of people around the world who strive, live & stand for peace. Unfortunately, there are a minority in this world who develop a misguided concept of Islam & commit evil acts in Islams name. Such as this man in Sydney. Let me just put you in a scenario: You are a good person, you have your head screwed on & youre getting on with your life peacefully. A member of your family does something terrible, that has nothing to do with you. Does that make you bad? Does that mean your whole family is bad too? You cannot judge Christianity on the acts of KKK. You cannot judge Judaism on the acts of Israel bombing Palestine. You cannot judge Irish people on the acts of the bombings in 1974. You cannot judge Muslims on the acts of this man in Sydney. You cannot judge an entire religion/community/population/group on the acts of a minority. Im proud of my faith. Why? Because following it is the best thing thats ever happened to me. It has taught me to be kind to others, to be merciful, to respect my elders, to show love and compassion, to give charity, to be honest, to have good character. To be a MUSLIM.
