So after about two hours of dismantling the tree of all of the ornaments ( pictured...just a few) Ray took a look at the tree to see why it was not lighting up and realized that the plug connecting the extension was the old one which was attached permanently to the tree which burnt out a few years ago....I since rewired new lights and apparently I was tired one night and did not use the automatic button to turn it off on the extension...... replugged it into the wrong one....... You get the picture :/
