So after hearing of another child suicide as a result of bullying, I feel I have to say something. Being that I was bullied myself for YEARS I know that there are many ways I couldve dealt with my situation. For me personally it wasnt a matter of who bullied me, but a matter of what they said and why. I think I can relate to some of these kids because you can easily make an excuse to dismiss the people who bully you, but their words will always stick with you. I can remember exact words that were said to me 8 years ago. Some things can simply not be unsaid. I think instead of telling kids dont bully, we should instead work on building the self-esteem of kids at a young age. By building their self esteem we might be able to stop them from feeling the need to hurt someone else. We should teach them about the things that are right about themselves--how theyre beautiful and fortunate and loved and better than those who try to influence them--and maybe they will lose the need to try and bring someone else down, and bring them up instead.
