So after match day 9, weve learned a few things about this years Cup. 1. USA is no longer the butt of global soccer jokes. We showed the world we have guts, can defend like hell, and can fight back super hard. USA plays fearlessly. 2. The Dutch are amazing. That leads us to point 3. 3. Spains run of complete dominance is DONE-ZO. Roja Royale is heading home after 2 spankings. 4. France has completely put the disastrous 2010 World Cup behind them, and every player on that squad is out to make a statement. 8 goals in 2 games. Yup, theyre for real, and their score lines, well that says it all. 5. Costa Rica just F**ked up Vegas bets. Costa is the little engine that could, and the Ticos should be feared. 6. Portugal, one of the global favorites, was exposed by a German side thats mindblowingly good. 7. Luis Suarez, often criticized and trashed globally, deserves WAY more love. Forget a Messi and a CR7, Luis Suarez may be the scariest player on earth. 8. England, despite having the best league in the world, simply doesnt show up at big tournaments. We feel awful for Steven Gerrard. 9. Small nations and underdogs are doing FAR BETTER than the big dogs and typical futbol-giants. This is the year of the underdog. 10. The title is WIDE OPEN. And WE BELIEVE. You should too.
