So, alright... Ive recently turned down a few portrait commissions. Nothing against doing them, and Im sure Ill do them again.... but Im trying to get my head in a specific space. Im not going to take any personal or family portrait commissions for the time being... I really need to focus on my own personal work and the illustrations I do for bands. Yes, if you want me to paint you a Waylon Jennings, or a Lightnin Hopkins or a Django Reinhrdt...anyone like that, yes yes yes, Id do it... bands... yes bands... Ill illustrate and do album covers, posters, fliers... commission me..... I just need to set some ground rules for myself... trying to go hard with pursuing what I love and why not start within a world/genre that I love.... My point is that Im trying to focus, and have something concrete and tangible to focus on... doing personal/family portraits are rough for me... I enjoy it for the most, but its a different mindset than say if I want to do a painting of Gram Parsons... or an illustrations of a cowgirl with a Catwoman mask on.... After a life of giving into resistance, a life of not giving it all I can give, and after the toughest year and a half of my life, I am ready and willing to take charge of where I want to see my life go, and I need to do the things that will best take me there. So, I hope I dont come off as conceded or ungrateful....I really am not trying to be that way... but I need to follow a plan of action, and do all I can to stay on the path.... I may be wrong....I may be crazy....
