So excited to be on the host committee and a panelist for this very special GIRLs PRIDE PROJECT 2014 Womens History Month Celebration in just one week!!!!! On Saturday, March 22, 2014, ACCE (African Center for Community Empowerment) Girls PRIDE (Providing Resources for Improvement Dignity and Empowerment) Project from 11:00am-4:00pm, in conjunction with state and local sister organizations, elected officials and local school districts; will celebrate Women’s History Month at the Elmont Memorial Public Library, 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY 11003. The celebration will be filled with various activities including poetry, music, artwork, health & wellness, and an empowering panel discussion. The Girls PRIDE Project supports and encourages education, job training, civic engagement, poverty alleviation, and economic development to girls and women of color from underserved communities including the promotion of equal access to full employment and decent work to alleviate the cycle of poverty, social, and economic disparities. The project is designed to guide and assist women and girls to discover their individual identity (self-discovery); to become aware of their individuality, gifts, talents, and potential (self-awareness); to believe in themselves and nurture their passions and destiny (self-assurance); and to employ every ounce of confidence to face life’s challenges and opportunities (self projection/expression).
