So for those asking here is what Transpired in Orlando at Islands of Adventure. Darin and I went last week to orlando with the expressed purpose of going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to ride the rides. We paid almost $200 for single day one day park passes to get in. We were so excited in seeing it in person and could not believe the atmosphere of the park. We went and rode the First of the parks 3 major rides. On the first ride I was told I was too big to ride 2 person and would need to wait to ride in a car by myself. Shrugged it off no biggie. Then we went to the ride located in the castle. We waited in line for 35 minutes and upon getting to the loading area of the ride, I was told that I would not be allowed on the ride for being too large. I was denied boarding in front of a large group of people and escorted through a back door to the ride exit. Darin had to ride the ride without me. I felt really embarrassed at the experience so we went to go get lunch. After lunch we went to go try the third ride and again I was told I was too large for the ride. Near tears We decided to just leave the park because I was exhausted embarrassed and having HUGE self-image and self esteem issues in all, we spent maybe 4 hours in the park. After getting home from the trip and settling back into work, I decided to write Universal and let them know my experience and see what they would do. I thought that I would get a thoughtful response from the Park. Well, they called me today which was good and I am appreciative of the prompt response, however the person I was speaking with was not getting the point. I again explained my experience (near tears again on the phone with him) and he proceeded to tell me I should have dealt with this at guest services at the park. I told him the last thing I wanted to do after being treated as I was by their attraction staff, was to go and have that experience again by their guest services staff. I wanted to get out of that place and forget how awful an experience it was. He then proceeded to tell me that a lot of people are not allowed on that ride, but that some Squishy fat people are sometimes able to ride if the ride operator really pushes on the safety cages. So now, I feel so much bigger than squishy fat people who manage to get on the rides. I have NEVER had a problem riding attractions at parks all over the country and while I know I need to lose weight, I dont feel as though I am so large that I dont fit on rides. I for sure, will not be returning to Universal Orlando and would share this story with anyone considering going. I was treated so unfairly and clearly my complaint was not taken seriously by their Guest Relations representative who called me today. Its my opinion that Disney is a MUCH better park and costs roughly the same for a one day one park admission. I will be sending this to the Justice department for ADA compliance review and if anyone hears of a Class Action against Universal, Please let me know as I cannot afford the time or money to file a suit on my own. Really disappointing customer service and I havent even gotten to a resolution on this damn visit yet.
