So it turns out that buying a wine youre responsible for making at the grocery store is a very awkward experience. Upon entering the store, I immediately realized that if I told anyone the wine I was buying, OZV was what I made for a living, there was no way I could come out of that conversation not looking like a schmuck. So buying OZV became my covert mission. I walked towards the wine isle feeling increasingly self-consious, as if everyone in the isle was just waiting for a winemaker to walk in and mingle. It didnt help that I was wearing my Trust me, Im a winemaker shirt. I grabbed OZV as fast as I could, weaving through throngs of people that must not know who I am, only stopping once to look back longingly at the wall of wine that I love to hover over, getting more and more intimate with the state of the industry. Finally, I was in the express checkout isle. As if god wanted wine to be the focus of the event, everyone in line was buying wine. Everyone, it was the wine checkout isle. Great place to be wearing a Trust me, Im a winemaker shirt. I stood there as the blood seeped away from my skin, hoping the beautiful people who loved wine on either side of me didnt ask me any questions. After a small eternity, the cashier checked me out. I knew I was safe. One swipe of my card and I was out. As I stepped out of the store, I felt a wave of relief sweep over me. And then I realized what a weirdo I am.
