So it was bound to happen and Ive been called out on the ALS Ice Water Challenge...I of course am not one to back down from a challenge so I will comply Liliana Rivera...but before I do...I wanted to share an ALS story for all of my Cooler than ice friends that are going to roll their eyes at me doing this.....Jason Becker was one of my favorite late 80s guitar players, he replaced Steve Vai for the David Lee Roth band after having played with Marty Friedman in Cacophony...around the time that I was in college he developed ALS and it was heartbreaking to follow his deterioration and see him lose his guitar skills little by little....here is a bit of his story and remember...its more than just a bucket of ice water...if research is done on this maybe a cure can be found or developed one day.....are there many other causes out there that we might feel should be pushed to the front of the line? arguably yes of course....but this one has gone viral and is very effective...some of the critics of the challenge say that it makes no sense as one pours water on ones head to NOT give money....this is not true....this is a system of results through volume of participation....as of last weekend the ALS foundation had received over 13 MILLION dollars traceable back to the Viral ice water challenge that has caught fire on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Vine....sure its a fad and it will be gone in a week....so in the mean time, while it has momentum....lets have a little fun in a spirit of compassion...lets help the system raise a little money and please watch this inspiring video........I will do the ice water thing later.
