So its thanks to this 90 year old man cantankerous as he is and his mates and the thousands of men and women like him(yep difficult to believe our Nans and Grandads) that we owe the freedom we have to day to do as we please and there really isnt much that is out of bounds.At the age of 17 as an apprentice at the Castle Bromwich factory he figured out how to get the second stage supercharger on the spitfire to work at high altitude(chief engineer couldnt),he worked with Alex Henshaw and all of the test crews on the Spitfire,never had the chance to fly one which breaks his heart even today.So when you shovel them off into an old peoples home(the very few that are left) as you have not got time to spend with them or when fools like Russel Brand says dont vote as it,s not worth it,really stop and think about what these,at the time young people actually gave up for us. yep that is my Grandad,him with the test crews and next to the Stirling a female delivery pilot.Kind of puts the Jeremy kile monkeys into perspective doesnt it.
