So last weekend saw the final round of the CPPS in Penkridge, - TopicsExpress

So last weekend saw the final round of the CPPS in Penkridge, which is essentially the national league for tournament paintball in the UK. We had 5 Warped squads in every round which is an accomplishment in itself, and just shows what great commitment has been shown by our club players and how much of an advantage it is having such strength in depth when it comes to competing in a series like this. Going into the weekend 4/5 of the squads were still battling for a top 3 place in their respective divisions so it was all still to play for. The first team Warped Wolf City Union had an important first game against their closest rivals in the division another local team The Sneaky Snorkels. Arriving earlier than usual, for some extra preparation before the first game, paid off with them taking a fairly straight forward 2-0 win. From there they continued their good form only dropping 1 point in all of their pre-lim games making the final and only losing out in a very close fought sudden death point to take 2nd place on the day and 3rd in the series overall. This team has really come together and improved over the season ( not just because I stepped down I hope ) ;) Expect big things from them next year as we look to once again venture into Europe and congratulations to Matt Wood and Mark Bishton on getting on Team GB U19 squad. The Casuals are exactly that, no training, simply relying on their experience. In a very competitive division this meant they were sitting mid table going into the final round and finished the day with 3 wins and 2 loses, to again finish mid table. I played for the Casuals this round and this was one of the most enjoyable days play I’ve had in a long time playing along side some of my old team mates Robin, Edd and Jim Burgerman with young gun Harley thrown in as default snake player. Next up was the Addiction squad, going from strength to strength throughout the season, after a slow start they’d been on the podium in the last 2 rounds and just came up short this time out to finish 6th on the day and 4th overall for the season. Top job lads and thanks to Fletch and Jack for stepping up from the breakout squad. Consistency has been the key for our Warped Kids team this year, never finishing lower than 9th and scoring two 4th places saw them take 2nd overall for the season. Lead by James Boddy this young team has had some great points throughout the season and the future looks bright for these players many of whom will be working to step up to the higher divisions over the off season and perhaps follow in the steps of Matt and Mark to play for Team GB next year. Warped Alpha aka the Breakout squad aka the newbs :p What a fantastic team to be a part of this has been. These lads have caught the bug, having played a total of 0 points on a sup-air field between them before coming to their first training session with Warped they managed to secure 3rd place overall for the season. Not only that but they’ve been there on Sunday to support the other teams playing in any way they can. It’s been a pleasure lads and looking forward to helping you take the next step up the ladder in 2015.
