So my little brother and Godfather to my daughter, Mr Dan Gurnett has nominated me to perform the ice bucket challenge and raise money to help fight terrible diseases or to fund humanitarian causes. Controversial, I know, but I will politely decline and stand alongside Mr Paul Riches (well tower over him, you get the idea). Decisions that we take over where to donate money for causes arent always rational - they most certainly arent always calculated. Generally speaking, Id suggest donating to health charities that have directly touched our lives in some way. The celebrity led craze here mind you, troubles me and apologies for not following the gimmick. Certainly I do acknowledge that a huge amount of money has been raised. Ive been plagued by Asthma since birth. Many of you have witnessed an attack Ive suffered. Its no secret of the love I feel for my brothers from another mother Dan Gurnett and Matthew Gurnett for spending Christmas Day with me in Addenbrookes Hospital in 1996 after such a huge attack. Inhalers and steroids are taken by me every day to try and control my Asthma. As a result I donate to Asthma Research, but not this time. On this occasion I will forgo the obscene amount of clean drinking water wastage and instead donate £20 to Just a Drop justadrop.org Nearly one billion people on the planet do not have access to clean, safe water and the amount thrown over gardens (yes by me once also, hence the donation) driveways and the like means Id urge you all to make a donation, however token, to just a drop also. Love you to pieces little Bruv. Hopefully youll understand my viewpoint!
