So the 2013 Kentucky Youth in Harmony Festival was a huge success. 70 young men from across Kentucky sharpened their a cappella skills under the skilled and entertaining guidance of Theo Hicks, Instant Classic, and Josh Hamilton. Special thanks to Isaac S. Jones, Ron Wilbur, Meg Stohlmann, Brent Merritt, Ryan Marsh, Daniel Wesley, Ellen Crawford, Carl Taylor, Ashley Tyree, and Mark Schell for sharing your terrific kids and for your excellent work day in and day out in your classrooms. But you dont need to take my word on how well things went. Just read a few of the survey responses from the students: It made me realize how great harmony sounds in a quartet. Seeing how many people attended really proves that men do care about musical culture. As a first year in choir, this helped me to become more independent and blend with the others in my section. Without this, Id probably be in my room bored out of my mind. This is the most fun Ive had all year. Emotionally, it made me very happy. Musically, it was great experience, and it will help me in the future to be more comfortable in front of other people. It also showed me what I need to work on. So thank you!! I would like to say that this is the most fun that has happened to me.
