So the boy who grabbed Faith around the neck went back to school this week. I guess it was a 6 day suspension. He maintained his innocence to his friends but there was no other issue. Now, I received the docs from the Department of Juvenile Justice yesterday. They will take my complaint and press charges. I am pleased but I dont want to use an elephant gun to kill a mouse. All I wanted was this bullying to stop and it seems to have abated (for now). However, I said what I meant and I meant what I said when I raised hell with the Principal and resource officer. I set precedent either way; I either am going to tolerate this crap or I am not. I cant afford to appear tolerant. Dont get me wrong, I have no question about the severity of what he did, but 3 weeks has gone by and my concern is that with the passage of time this is like beating the dog for peeing in the floor-last week. I also feel that a brush with the legal system could be good for this kid. It could make his parents more involved or attentive. Juvie court can be pretty forgiving, but it is still court. I threw it out to Faith to see what she wants to do and all I get is a predictable, I just want him to leave me alone. So, I am torn and would like your thoughts. I am inclined to proceed with filing charges and putting it in the hands of people who are less invested than me. I feel like I should trust that the Court will know what to do. Also, I want to give Faith a chance to face him so to speak.
