So, this weekend saw two events which are worthy of comment - International Womens Day, and the viralisation of one venues decision to reject a female comedian (presumably because the mainstream media is so saturated by female comedians). What you might not now is that Jenny is from Bangor, and Ive been lucky enough to be not-quite-good-enough to share a stage with her in our very own JP Hall (I sat in the audience and laughed... a lot). The discussion about the gender balance in comedy is one which has been going on for a long time (and will surely continue) - but the fact that the internet has provoked sufficient outrage (with comment from Sarah Silverman, Jason Manford, and Sarah Milican) to get this on to the front page of the Independent is fantastic. I know that my wonderful, bizarre, childish sense of humour comes directly from my mum - and as MS ravages her physical abilities, it is our joint love of silliness which keeps us together, and makes me admire what a strong woman she is. So thanks to Jenny, for highlighting this silly decision, and thanks to the internet for bringing it to widespread attention on International Womens Day. Jenny was also in a sketch about page 3 (that particularly liberated page of the Sun) which you can check out at youtube/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=WOXX0PIZz48&app=desktop
