So.........today Im at the doctors office waiting for my doctor and Im sitting next to an elderly man who comes from........believe it or not..........YORKVILLE!!! He proceeds to tell me he learned to swim by being thrown into the East River. LOL (so did my dad). He tells me that he is sorry I never got to experience the family atmosphere of his old neighborhood. Tells me that everyone in Yorkville going back years was family. Everyone watched out for each other. Mentioned the Half Way house and the Raquets (im guessing dances?)........it was so cool listening about my hometown from someone older then me. Loved it. When my doctor finally came, he said If you ever get a chance, visit Yorkville, its like no other place on earth. (Never told him I was from Yorkville), just wanted to hear what he had to say. Said his name was Joe OGrady. Anyone?
