So we do not have anymore fuel subsidies. However our cars are still more expensive, our development of public transport (MRT) is still on going. The way to save money is to get a bike or scooter for commuting. Thats what I was thinking 3 months ago. The fuel is cheap for scooter and the road tax is cheap. I could get a scooter and commute for work which is convenient. Images of italians wearing a suit riding a bicycle or riding a scooter to work is what I have in mind in the city of KL. However I was dead wrong. Many told me that riding a bicycle is dangerous in KL. Cars will not take care of motorists and the portholes is dangerous. We should stay away from riding a motorcycle. So even if I want to save money or reduce the amount of cars in the city, I am unable to do so. I know of an expat yesterday who is a triatholon. She rides a bicycle and she got hit a car 3 years ago. She was paralysed due to the spinal cord injury and she was told she couldnt walk. I saw her walking to the physiotherapy centre yesterday with crutches and she has amazing progress. She is a nutritionist working for a hospital and you will wonder how much pain she has gone through. If only the roads is safer for bicycle and motorists, I think it will make the city a more beautiful place.
