So we finally made it to Thailand yesterday after an absolutely horrific flight. Dimis first time on a plane. He developed a fever of 40 degrees 2 hours into our 9 hour flight. Couldnt wake him and when we did he threw up all over me. Managed to give him nurofen & with the help of the beautiful air hostesses of Thai Air we cooled him down by stripping him down & sponging him with cold water. His fever passed only to come back. He threw up on me again. He wouldnt eat or drink. Didnt know what to do. Still 5 hours till we get to Thailand. Was the most horrific thing thats ever happened to me. Not able to help my baby and no dr onboard. Got to Bangkok put him in a wheelchair and were rushed to the airport medical clinic. The dr there could barely speak English. All he did was prescribe 4 different meds. Yeah right, Im going to give my sick child all these different meds. We didnt know if we should board our 1.5 hour connecting flight to Phuket. His fever had dropped so we got on the flight. Then the diarrhea started. Twice in 1 hour. Was in the bathroom changing his nappy during take off! His temperature went up again in the plane. He still wasnt eating or drinking. Finally made it to Phuket and got to the resort ok. But he still gets mild fevers and diarrhea. George and I have been traumatised by this experience. Please do not take your child on a plane if they have a fever.
