So we have seen a few questions on tire pressure in the passed. So here is some info on Road / TT bike Tire Pressure.. Only from my days of Racing Super Moto, motor bikes on slick tires have I learned a few things on this... To date this photo and zipp wheels and I seam to be of the same mind set. Please only use this as a guide for Tuber Tires and check the manufacture specifications and LIMITATIONS on your tire side wall... But as a rule of thumb the difference of about 10% less pressure on wet surfaces and also keeping in mind the ambient temperature, road surface temp /heat, brakes heat transferred from the pad through the rim can be very high. Particularly when descending for a long time and when you are hard on the brakes... This can increase the tier temperature. That in turn increases the air temp in your tire ... This air will I then expand and... Bang you have a higher tire temp and a possible blow out..So although if you are like me and you like to run very high tier pressure ... Keep in mind that you are no doubt pumping the tier cold in your garage and way before the sun is up and the road surface is hot ... As the day rolls around so dose the road surface increase.. So ...In the wet why we drop the tire pressure? It is to increase the surface area of the tire on the road to improve traction and grip... Hopefully so you can keep the bike rubber side down ...and not slip and fall off ..A harder tier will generally have less rolling resistance and require less effort to roll... This has its pros and its cons ... Hard means less traction and more bumpy and fatiguing vibrating feel ... So that is it in a nut shell - happy pumping ...
