So we have six of these signs posted in Solano County on the roads - TopicsExpress

So we have six of these signs posted in Solano County on the roads we regularly ride (all significantly substandard width with approximately half dashed line, half double yellow line). Lovely country roads with little traffic. Almost always easy to pass if the yellow line is ignored, as it generally is). Many days there are more bikes than cars on these roads. In fact, I dare say that cyclists often set the speed of traffic. The property owners in the area would like to take their roads back, and they convinced Solano County Public works to (create from scratch, obviously, and) install six of these signs. They even cite CVC 21202. The signs have been up for two years. We attended the county public works meeting, and asked for these signs to be on the agenda. Logic and law did not prevail - the property owners who brought in supporting DMV handbook citations (have you seen what the handbook says about cycling? How about the official drivers education materials that they provide?) prevailed. The signs remain. I have spoken to CalTrans/DOT, Public Works, Sheriff, CHP, County Supervisors. And now the CA Bike Coalition and the CA Metro Trans Commission. Theres no way I could count the hours I have into this project. Guess what... nobody is the sign police. And everybody suggests that I bring up this issue at some big meeting or another (well, except for the county, they all first suggest that I talk to the county about the signs). As if wasting my time will somehow unearth that mysterious sign police. These Signs obviously violate CVC 21401 by not being in the MUTCD. They cite CVC 21202 which contains no such message. And local jurisdictions dont get to set this policy. They are illegal, confusing, and dangerous. So... whos gonna be the one here to give me that brilliant nugget... the solution Ive been looking for all this time, that finally tells me how to have these signs removed (legally)? (For those familiar with the riding around Winters, CA, these signs are on Putah Creek Road, Winters, Road, Pleasants Valley Road and Stevenson Bridge Road.)
