So ... went by the house of worship tonight to straighten up a few things before service tomorrow, and took the opportunity to pray and seek the Lord for the sermon while there. Rather than turn on the lights in the sanctuary I just went into one of the childrens classrooms. I knelt down at a chair and began to pray. I was having trouble focusing and began to pray for the Lord to help my thoughts not to wander, and then ... I fell asleep. O_o Dont judge me -- youve done it before too. Ha! Suddenly I woke up, disoriented, unaware of where I was. Then regaining some sense of self awareness, heart pounding, I began trying to determine how long I had been there. I thought I heard someone in the church ... late at night ... in the dark ... me alone ... in a church. FULL. PANIC. MODE. (and thats double serious for a guide with a panic disorder) Turns out the couple who comes and sets up for the morning service, especially when were having communion, had come and was prepping for the service as well. They initially assumed I had left my car there and had gone somewhere with someone else. They didnt think to check the room to see me in there, and I wasnt expecting them that late in the evening. So ... Im slipping through the foyer, while on the phone with my wife telling her, call someone. I was planning to keep her on the phone while I tried to slip up on the intruder, saving room to bolt out the door as well. LOL Then my sweet, intelligent, darling wife says, just call out and see if someone is there. Right! What??? How dumb! Then I realized the other car out front looked familiar, & the sanctuary lights were on. I was by the only exit/entry on that end of the church anyhow, and my wife was on the phone if something happened. So ... Good idea Babe! =P I called out, Hello? ... Boy was I ever relieved to ear Brother Billys familiar voice reply, and quickly. We all had a good laugh. And now I hope you have as well. =D
