So, yesterday I decided to go ahead and cook. While shopping for the food, I saw a black woman and of course acknowledged her presence with the usual smile as is the norm for generations of Blacks in America. She asked me where the corn bread stuffing mix was, I told her I hadnt found it yet. She then told me about the BOGO sale on turkeys at Albertsons, then a few minutes later, told me where the Corn Bread Stuffing mix was. Today Im at Trader Joes and was ribbing the black female clerk for saying she was going to adopt a baby in line, but not me! She then gave me an enormous hug that felt like it was coming directly from my mother. The holiday season will never again be the same since my mothers passing, but it is nice to be reminded that I am still black, and black is a wonderful thing! Ive always told my daughter if she is ever lost or uncomfortable in a situation, find a black woman and ask for assistance and it will be granted, and sure enough each and every time that has been the case. So today and everyday of my life....Damn I am Proud to be Black!
