Some key news follow from our latest updates as a result of the power outages. Please let your friends and family know who do not have power. In the following towns water supplies are operating as normal - Leeston, Lincoln, Prebbleton, Darfield, Rolleston Community Centre, Prebbleton, Southbridge, Tai Tapu and West Melton. The Branthwaite and Claremont water supplies are also operating as normal. As power outages continue in other areas of Selwyn, the ability to pump and store water in remaining Council water supplies has been affected. Because power outages are widespread, and generators are limited, available generators are being circulated around the water supplies. Households connected to Council water supplies may notice that their water supply is intermittent (on - off) as generators are moved around. In some cases water may be off for some hours before returning. People connected to water supplies in areas where the water supply is intermittent are also asked to conserve water by avoiding using dishwashers, washing machines, hoses, using bottled water if possible and limiting other water use. Taumutu and Upper Selwyn Huts rural water supplies do not have power or water. The Council is attempting to make alternative arrangements to supply water. Stockwater A stockwater supply point for tanker filling has been established at Darfield next to the Sicon yard in Mathias Street. Showering facilities For families without power, showering facilities will be available at the following locations from Friday 13 September.
